Planned Nearby shows development projects from public planning and permit records. You can browse the whole site without an account. An account is only needed for email alerts.
What we collect
- Account details: your name and email address. Your ZIP code and what best describes you (for example neighbor or contractor) are optional.
- Sign-in with Google or Facebook: we receive your name, email address and an account ID from that service. We don't receive your password, contacts or posts, and we never post anything for you.
- Your alerts: the areas and project types you choose. For an alert near an address we keep only a point rounded to about 100 meters, never the street address you typed.
- Sign-in records: one-time codes (stored scrambled), session cookies, and the dates you signed in and we emailed you, so we can keep accounts secure and stop abuse.
How we use it
Only to run your account and send the alerts you asked for. We don't sell or rent your information and don't share it with advertisers. Emails are sent through Cloudflare, which hosts this site and its database.
Cookies
We set two cookies when you sign in: a secure session cookie that keeps you signed in, and one with your first name so pages can say hello. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Records about projects
Project pages come from public government records. We name businesses, institutions and developers, but not private homeowners.
Deleting your data
Sign in, open My alerts and choose Delete my account. That removes your account, your alerts and your sign-in records right away. If you signed up with Facebook, removing Planned Nearby from your Facebook settings does not delete your account here, so use the button too. Every alert email also has a one-click link to stop alerts.
